Not sure where the thought came from but now that I've thought of it, what the hey.

What effect do you think chocolate would have to a dragon if any at all?

maybe chocolate would be posion to them like it is to cats and dogs?

Post subject:  Re: Dragons + chocolate?

hmmm.... tough question but by the looks of it I'd vote not that much of an effect seeing that it would just melt before the dragon even gets to take a bite out of it...

Seriously, I doubt it'll have much of an effect to a dragon, well... my version at least (25 ft dragons XD)

If a large dragon, then it would require a lot of chocolate. The chemical theobromine is what's deadly, and is found in chocolate. In fact, it can be dangerous to humans as well if enough is ingested. theobromine starts becoming poisonous with every 150 milligrams per kilogram mass of the human added to the person's digestive system.

I guess the better question would be, can a dragon enjoy chocolate? A lot of animals do not have the taste buds for things like that.

And on that note, what other type of "poison" foods would they have eat or not eat? Like with peppers and things like that.

That IS a good question vamp, I wonder if there is a poisonous food they could have eaten that we could not

There is animals that eat food that is poisonous to humans. Squirrels may eat mushrooms that is poisonous to humans, and Deer eats poisonous plants in their diet.

This is really a question of where the dragon came from. If it evolved from animals, then there is probably no effect from chocolate.

well i think the biggest prob with the whole thing is, how do you go about testing that?

i wodent interly say that only land baced anamal evolsion would give a dragon some protechion from poison compounds. sevral kinds of brids are known to eat posion berrys so id like to throw in that fact as well as seveal humons can "billd a tolrance" to poisons. and in fact some verry deadly compounds in small enuf doses are benafisal .... to an extent... medincine proves that as well as copounds of bleave it or not gold and silver in pre and some post modern settings along with iron zink and litheum

wiat isn't litheum some kind of reallly flamable gass?

Post subject:  Re: Dragons + chocolate?

ither that or a metal ither way its used in the production of anti scotick drugs and is shown to incress white blood cell count in small doses at least but it gets very dangeors very fast

Lithium is reactive with water, but not enough for a real flame. Sodium, or any other alkali metal below it on the periodic table, is reactive enough with water to create a flame. The further down you go on the periodic table in the first group, the more reactive with water it is.

Post subject:  Re: Dragons + chocolate?

Off topic: lithium does produce flame, you just need a larger amount of it.

Post subject:  Re: Dragons + chocolate?

Well the birds and even some monkeys that consume 'poisoned' foods have found eating clay or charcoal to help absorb poisons.

But a good question is, can a dragon do like a puffer-fish does and use the toxins as a defense.

Post subject:  Re: Dragons + chocolate?

I suppose it would be a matter of dragon anatomy, and whether or not it had the necessary organs and glands to separate, isolate, and distribute the poison in a pinch.

And yes, lithium does create flame with water, but so much is needed, I don't think it likely lithium is the igniting element...

...Unless of course some catalyst were used in the process...

Post subject:  Re: Dragons + chocolate?

Or may rather the question would be how large would a dragon have to be to have those organs along with the organs needed to give it flight and it fire breathing abbilites?

perhaps a dragon who could render these posions useful would have to also sacrafice one of the abilites a dragon is supposed to have in order to do so?

well that last though is intresting, does lithium naturally accure in large quanities for that to begin with?

ohhhh......ok... thanks vamp... did not know I did that lol....

ok, like I said last time; Dragons should be able to each chocolates.

as for them eating poison foods.... they probably were eligible to eat such without having the negative effects... but sadly we'll never know this unless we found an actual living dragon...
